CatchMap

functionality

We have developed CatchMap GIS software so that our clients can map soil attributes at depth. Water retailers are using CatchMap to attach soil attributes to their in-ground assets. Current coverage extends to around 7000 km2 of the Melbourne metropolitan area. We welcome requests to bring CatchMap to new areas, or to develop additional functionality that would make it relevant to new industries.

An example of a map series at 0.5 metres that was produced by CatchMap for the Ascot Vale area in Melbourne, and overlaid with local roads. A database lies behind the terrain pattern map and this allows themes such as soil texture, pH, electrical conductivity and shrink / swell to be mapped at asset depth. Within a GIS, buried assets such as water pipes and gas pipes can be related to these data.
