We have developed in-house GIS software that allows us to relate
a land capability assessment to land ownership. In community consultation
forums, stakeholders
are more inclined to work constructively together when they can see the land
capability constraints shown clearly and consistently over the entire area
being planned. For more information download the Allan and others 2006

This composite map of development
constraints (steep slopes, poor soil effluent disposal capability, etc) was
used in a community consultation forum to show areas where sewerage servicing
should be a priority. Prior to being shown this map the planning working
party was shown each of the constraint maps that were used to compile it. |
